PHS NCDCC 2011
The PHS National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC) was established in the year 2008 with 11 cadets from Secondary 1. Today, the enrollment has increased to 39 cadets with 3 Staff Sergeants from Sec 4.
In NCDCC, the cadets will be able to learn a wide range of useful topics such as First-Aid, Fire Safety, Campcraft, Hazardous Materials, and footdrill. We also took part in the National Civil Defence Cadet Corps Day at the Home Team Academy (HTA) and Emergency Preparedness Day 2010. Selected cadets will also be sent to special courses such as the Urban Search and Rescue course, non-commissioned officer(NCO) course, senior non-commissioned officer(SNCO) course and the Unit Drill Instructor course.
We also have 2 annual camps. The camps are planned by the senior cadets for the junior cadets to orientate them into the Uniformed group, as well as bond the unit as a whole.
I am sure that you will find something that you are interested in, during your journey in NCDCC.

Hey.
Just a post to notify people reading that a few of your sec 3seniors have passed out as SNCOs recently. I am not very sure, but I know to the least that Huan Yin & Timothy become SNCOs successfully through the course.
SGT Xi Zhe and SGT Ellery is also currently attending the USAR Course from 23rd to 25th of June. Since today's the 24th, they are halfway through. They should be able to pass out successfully too. Ain't very sure cos I haven't really been in contact with them for quite awhile. (apart from xizhe spamming my inbox)
That's all... congrats to all who passed out and the 2 going through USAR Course. <--- WO required badge. As we can only have 2 WOs each batch, and the USAR badge is required for WO, those aiming for WO will have to strive hard.
Great job on those who passed out as SNCOs. Now u can share the workload! : P

Precision Drill Squad (PDS)
Hello everyone,
How your preparation for mid-year examination ?
Activities right after your mid year,
1. Kayaking Course
2. Sec1 camp .. & more :)
Thing to share with all of you. Have heard of Precision Drill Squad (PDS) ?
I believe some of you saw other uniform group in PHS like Ncc(sea) & Boy Brigade doing fancy drill.
Fancy drill - a performance of modified drill that involves complex marching sequences that usually deviate from standard footdrill.
Pre-requisites to take part in Precision drill :
1. Excellent Attendance
2. Excellent Footdrill standard
3. Having passion in drill.
Furthermore, check out this new badge on the right.
IT IS THE PRECISION DRILL BADGE !!!
Look, It is larger than a one dollar coin !
This badge will be placed on your smart 4.
How to get this badge ?
It is easy ! You just need to be in a Precision Drill Squad !
There will be Precision Drill competition at august if i not wrong for cadets. And a performance at June for cadet lieutenant.
So even CLT Kwang Bin can also joining the fun too. The CLTs also considering to take part too, so are you considering too ?
Now it is April, it is kinda late to prepare for this coming august competition. But don't worry, We all can still train for next year competition too !
So are you ready to take up in the Precision Drill Squad ?
Good luck in your exam !
From,
SCLT Victor Khoo.

SCDF Bonding Day - 10th April 2010
Overall I enjoyed my trip to the Civil Defence Academy. It allowed me to break the ice between my other National Civil Defence Cadet Corps cadets. This also allowed me to see what are the few things I can look forward to. For example, somewhere in October, I can look forward to entering the furnace, an area where not only will I have my fire safety examination but also where I get to experience how the environment is like in a real fire, except I am safe from any dangers of the fire. I also got the chance to experience what it is like to use a thermal scanner in an extremely dark area.
Apart from all these activities, I also got to experience using the water hose and I as even able to see how the search-and-rescue dogs do their jobs by actually being able to sniff out the hidden volunteers.
It was an extremely enriching course, as I was able to learn about the different kinds of duties a Civil Defence officer has. I will be dying to visit the Civil Defence Academy again if I ever had the chance.
From,
CDT Delwyn Cheng Ze Kai (Sec one)

Training Updates
Dear NCDCC Cadets,
1. NCDCC Day & Passing Out Parade. First of all, i would like to thank you for being so supportive to Ncdcc. Congrats to Everyone who participated in NCDCC Day Parade. It was a resounding success!
On POP Day, sad to say it was raining cats and dogs. Thanks you for putting effort for coming down for last minute extra training before this two parades. All of you had trained very hard for it, the officers and cadet lieutenant appreciated it =)
Your effort did not come to a waste, as it contribute as your training for Footdrill bronze and silver award.
I believe in the near future, our uniform group will soar in height. PHS NCDCC now starting to head towards a more well organised cca but of course we do need everyone support for every training. Standards expected from all of you must always be tip-top.
Attention to all Sec One : Please help spread the words to your fellow classmates who doesn't not have a cca yet, to join our organization for an adventurous and fruitful learning journey in ncdcc. We need to increase our number of students.
Attention to Everyone : Attendance in cca is compulsory and important. The school and Ncdcc looking very seriously on this matter over the years. Letter will be issued to your parent soon regarding about your attendance in NCDCC. Poor attendance will seriously affect the overall training schedule, meaning affecting the overall promotion in your squad. It will reflect badly on our cca when the public, teachers, classmate who see it. Also affecting the morale in among your squad mates who worked so hard in this cca.
Poor Attendance = Poor disicipline in uniform group.
Those who been skipping training without valid & acceptable reason will be seriously dealt with by the disciplinary committee.
Note : Academic results also a concern to ncdcc too. Those who doing super badly in their studies, i.e failing more than half of the total number of subjects you studying right now, will affect their promotion in ncdcc too.

Attire: School uniform. Meeting will be from 1500hrs to 1800hrs.

Best regards,
SCLT Victor Khoo
2. CCA Stand Down from 19th April 2010 onwards until further notice.
Reason : To give students more time to prepare their mid-year examination. Good Luck everyone and take good care of yourself =)Note : Academic results also a concern to ncdcc too. Those who doing super badly in their studies, i.e failing more than half of the total number of subjects you studying right now, will affect their promotion in ncdcc too.

8th SNCO course reflections
For me, the SNCO course was a bit crazy. When I first agreed to go, I thought it would be quite a breeze. I was totally wrong. Everyday somehow the sirs will find fault with us and ask us to knock it down. A CLT told me that we did at least 200 a day! It was tough.
On Thursday, sir Farhan came up to me and told me I would be the
During the Scenario Based Learning Assessment (SBLA), I cried during the confined space rescue because I had a bad experience before. I was taken out immediately and the CLTs & sirs tried to comfort me. They tried to talk to me, but I did not respond. Seeing this, sir Trevor told me, "Do not think about how you dropped out halfway. At least you had the courage to go in and try."
As long as we tried, it would not matter the outcome as we had already taken the first step out. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. Big things are only achieved by attending to small beginnings. I hope that in time to come, we will be like a big family and let us begin by caring for one another.

My 8th SNCO course reflection
During the holidays, ellery me xizhe and evelyn went for the 8th SNCO Course from the 15th-19th of march...
To me, the course was planned in such a way that most of us had to have make various decisions during the course. Especially so when the BOS(battalion orderly sergeant), COS(company orderly sergeant), and various group ICs were changed DAILY. The four of us were split up into different groups, Ellery-> Sierra, Xizhe> November, Me-> Charlie, Evelyn-> Oscar.
I must admit... i thought the course would be quite a breeze, but i was wrong... we went through much sweat and blood to be able to pass out as SNCOs, then getting the CD Knowledge & Footdrill (GOLD) badges. Overally, the course is quite fun when we look back, laughing at the photos and thinking back about all that we've learnt and gone through.

NCDCC SNCO Course (15th - 19th March 2010) Reflection
You Hong, Xi Zhe, Evelyn and I attended the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) course from 15th - 19th March at the Home Team Academy (HTA).
It was an enriching and informative course; I learned how to be an effective leader and firm but fair commander. The course trained us to be interesting in our lessons, how to handle the cadets in a classroom situation, in the field, the parade ground and almost virtually in every nook and corner!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Senior Cadet Lieutenant Victor Khoo for his invaluable advice and suggestions on the night before the Method of Instruction(MOI) assessment. He was with me on MSN till past midnight. Thank you Victor Sir! :D
I would also like to thank Ms Tean for being with us at the Passing Out Ceremony.
I look forward to using those methods and skills that I have learnt during the course to impart the knowledge to my juniors. :)
